Billing & Credits

Building a report spends credits. This page covers where credits come from, the plan tiers, and how to get more. Billing is managed by admins on the Billing tab of the organization page.

What a credit is

A credit is the unit you spend to build a report. A standard report costs more credits than a focused one — the heavier the audit, the more it draws down. Rerunning an audit spends credits again, the same as building it the first time; loading a previous plan doesn’t change the cost.

Your balance comes in two parts, shown separately on the Billing tab:

  • Plan credits — a monthly allotment that comes with a paid plan and refreshes each billing period. Unused plan credits don’t roll over.
  • Purchased credits — a top-up balance you buy outright. These don’t expire with the billing period.

Reports draw from your plan allotment first.

The plans

The Billing tab showing the current plan and credit balance

  • Free — get started and run reports against a starting balance, with no monthly commitment.
  • Growth — a monthly subscription that includes a recurring credit allotment, auto-renewing each period.
  • Enterprise — for larger teams; arranged directly and able to purchase credits as needed.

The Billing tab always shows your current tier, how many plan credits remain this period, and your purchased balance.

Upgrading and changing plans

Free → Growth. On a free plan, an Upgrade card shows the Growth plan, its monthly price, and the credits it includes. Click it to start checkout through Stripe. Once you’re subscribed, the monthly allotment lands each period automatically.

Managing a Growth subscription. On Growth, the Plan Change section lets you cancel — you keep access through the end of the current period and then drop to Free — or, if you’ve already scheduled a cancellation, resume billing before that date. The tab shows your renewal or cancellation date.

Buying more credits

If you need credits beyond your plan, the Buy credits flow lets you purchase a top-up balance. Pick an amount — the form suggests round numbers sized to standard and focused reports — and check out through Stripe. Purchased credits land in your balance and don’t reset at the end of the billing period.

Buying top-up credits is available on Enterprise and on active Growth subscriptions.

When you run out

If you try to build a report without enough credits, Palmata stops you with an out of credits prompt instead of failing the run.

  • If you can manage billing, the prompt links straight to purchasing more.
  • If you can’t, it tells you to reach out to your organization admin to top up the balance.

No partial reports are built and no credits are spent when you’re blocked this way.
